Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs)

Members can opt to pay additional contributions to build up a pot of money which is used to provide benefits on top of their LGPS benefits.  AVCs are taken directly from pay before the tax is worked out so there is automatic tax relief. 

All local government pension funds have an arrangement with an AVC provider.  Shetland Islands Council Pension Fund have Prudential as their AVC provider.
